He gets up in the dark, quietly stretches and prepares his body for the challenges ahead. After a quick shower, he pulls on his jersey, sweats and team hat and heads downstairs to begin a busy day. Will the quarterback do his job? Are the runningbacks going to come through? This day will include lots of exercise, the use of strategic thinking and planning, and in the end, hopefully a successful outcome for his team.

“Are we talking about a professional football player?” you might ask. Actually, no. It’s Sean Langley, a member of the Wildhorse Fantasy Football league, getting ready for a big Sunday of football. His exercise will be jumping up and screaming at the television, intermingled with the strenuous actions of checking his scores on the computer, lifting his beer and eating his chips right from the bag. To men all around America, this is the quintessential perfect day.

The Wildhorse Fantasy Football league began two years ago. The group consisted of 12 men, some of whom are beginning their 20th year of being a team manager. Fantasy football has become one of America’s favorite pastimes, with an untold number of teams across the country and more Web sites than you can count to keep track of your scores and manage your team and your league.
